Worship

We are a liturgical church. Our church gathers for worship each Sunday at 10:00 AM and on other special occasions throughout the Church Year.

Liturgy, the framework of our gathering, literally means "the work of the people." We do not gather to be trained or entertained, we gather to work together in worship and praise of the creator of all that is and ever will be until the end of time. We gather to prepare ourselves to go - into all the world as disciples of our living Lord.

Now is our time and our worship strives to be relevant to people who live now, who work now, who pray now, and worship now in the name of Jesus Christ. Together the church celebrates the many important life passages that children, adults, and families of all kinds share.

New Beginnings worship on the last Sunday of each month is informal, contemporary, and filled with worship and praise under the leadership of our Church and Community Minister, Ted Carter. The style may be different, but the Gospel Good News remains the same.

We celebrate many life passages together. here is some information about those special life events that our community gathers to celebrate:

SUNDAY CELEBRATIONS  -  BAPTISM FOR INFANTS, YOUTH AND, ADULTS
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION
CONFIRMATION / AFFIRMATION / CHURCH MEMBERSHIP
LIFETIME RITES OF PASSAGE  -  BLESSING OF A RESIDENCE
WEDDINGS / HOLY UNIONS / COMMITMENT CEREMONIES
FUNERALS / MEMORIAL SERVICES

SUNDAY CELEBRATIONS
Members and friends of Abiding Savior Church gather each Sunday morning for worship that respects the liturgical tradition of the Lutheran Church while speaking through worship and the arts in contemporary acts and language that enable the gathered people to experience Jesus in the midst of their lives, to express their hopes, dreams, hurts, and fears, and to depart with a clear sense of purpose to serve others as God has served them.   Return to top.

BAPTISM FOR INFANTS, YOUTH, AND ADULTS
Baptism is the rite of initiation into the Church. In and through the waters of Holy Baptism God acts to claim the people of God by the power of God's own Word and the presence of God's own Spirit. Abiding Savior Church invites all who have not been baptized to share in this special gift of God's own good grace.   Return to top.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION
FOR INFANTS, YOUTH, AND ADULTS

The age for First Holy Communion is not established by the Lord in heaven, but by responsible individuals, parents, and sponsors in dialogue with their Pastor and congregation. Abiding Savior Church provides age-appropriate education for groups, families, and individuals who would like to formally prepare to receive the sacrament of Holy Communion for the first time, or just come to a deeper understanding of the Sacrament and its place in the life of Christians and the Church. Check with Pastor Bill for further information regarding this significant life event.

CONFIRMATION / AFFIRMATION / CHURCH MEMBERSHIP
Christians who have been baptized become a member of a congregation through a rite called Affirmation of Baptism. This rite is appropriate for young adults and older persons who make the responsible decision on their own to become an active, supporting minister of a congregation.   Return to top.

LIFETIME RITES OF PASSAGE
The changes and chances of life often leave us seeking advice, comfort, support, encouragement, and care. The church provides opportunities for individuals and groups or families to gather within the context of a Christian community during important times in our lives for care-full worship, prayer, and fellowship.   Return to top.

WEDDINGS / HOLY UNIONS / COMMITMENT CEREMONIES
When people find they share a commitment and union that binds them together in powerful, spiritual ways, it is only natural that they seek the blessing of the church upon that relationship. The ministry of the church is to provide caring, meaningful encouragement and support to those who seek to recognize that God has blessed them with partners who share a common commitment to a meaningful relationship.   Return to top.

BLESSING OF A RESIDENCE
Home should be a safe place where one can find oneself and the presence of the Lord. When you move into a new home, discover the peace and joy that the blessing of your new home can bring.   Return to top.

FUNERALS / MEMORIAL SERVICES
People of faith gather to celebrate the gift of life. Abiding Savior Church and the Ruth Clark Memorial Garden provide lasting opportunities to mark the passing of a loved one and a faith-centered gathering point to remember their gifts.   Return to top.
